Off to Guide and Ski Tour in Antarctica

The annual Ice Axe Expeditions Antarctic Ski Tour is ready for lift off! Guides and guests will gather in Ushuaia, Argentina this week where we’ll stretch our legs on the prime terrain of the Martial Glacier before setting sail for infamous Drake Passage, and eventually the Antarctic Peninsula. I’m super excited to work with Mountain Hub and Community Snow Observations on this years trip by taking snow depth measurements and mapping terrain that has seen climactic changes in recent years. I am also looking forward to skiing with Marco Crolla again as he fulfills a life long dream to ski his seventh continent while raising money for pancreatic cancer research. It’s hard to put this trip into words, but Ascent Backcountry Snow Journal editor Paul Oelerich did a great job with this feature piece. Enjoy the article, and be in touch if you have interest in skiing the frozen continent with us in 2018.
