From the land of the midnight sun, to the polar powder of the Arctic, this State of the Backcountryreport comes to you from Sisimiut, Greenland. Sisimiut is a special place home to just under 6,000 residents. It has been inhabited for more than 4,000 years and is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Greenland. Of note to intrepid backcountry skiers, Sisimiut is the basecamp forIgloo Mountain, a group of Greenlandic people that hold the key to opening the doors to some of the most inspiring backcountry skiing on the planet.
