Please Comment By Tuesday June 19th To Speak Out For The Arctic Refuge

In D.C. with my partner Jillian, our at the time 10 week old baby (Mika), and other allies/co-conspirators including the Alaska Wilderness League, lobbying for the Arctic Refuge. May, 2018

I am headed back to the Arctic Refuge this month, to what I and many others consider one of the last great wild places left on Earth. While I look forward to time with my Gwich’in friends in Arctic Village, and meeting up with another crew of folks to float the Hula Hula River through… Continue reading Please Comment By Tuesday June 19th To Speak Out For The Arctic Refuge

Seeking Balance with the Tahoe NF Winter Travel Plan

I wrote this piece to build a bridge. I sincerely hope a plan can be drafted and implemented that works for the greater backcountry community. From the RGJ: As a 16-year Tahoe local, I’ve always enjoyed catching up with people after a memorable day in the backcountry. It has never mattered if they were ski… Continue reading Seeking Balance with the Tahoe NF Winter Travel Plan

Cooler Earth Podcast | Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

A PIRATE’S BOUNTY- SKIING AND SAILING IN ICELAND’S HORNSTRANDIR NATURE RESERVE

Only a skier knows the feeling- sunburned, windburned, and legs that are really… Continue reading A PIRATE’S BOUNTY- SKIING AND SAILING IN ICELAND’S HORNSTRANDIR NATURE RESERVE

This piece was written for the late winter edition of Ascent Backcountry Snow Journal. You can find the issue in quality gear shops across the American West. Dark, snowy and slow. Adventure Sports Journal | Ming Poon Photography

My good friend, Tahoe based photographer Ming Poon has been on an absolute tear lately. The Adventure Sports Journal just published an interview about his story and it’s well worth a read. I’m very happy to have contributed a photo I shot of Ming, while he was shooting Jeremy Jones one dawn patrol morning (seen above).… Continue reading Adventure Sports Journal | Ming Poon Photography

Tahoe Ski Guiding with NASTC

Julien was in Tahoe for work and had one day to experience the Tahoe backcountry. Through NASTC we enjoyed a fine ski tour of Castle Peak, Basin Peak, and Andesite Peak in January, 2017.

If you want to check out backcountry skiing in Tahoe, tune your ski touring skills, or just have a knowledgable guide on hand to show you some classic ski tours in the area, come ski with me and NASTC this winter. I’ve worked with NASTC for a few years now and love the passion and… Continue reading Tahoe Ski Guiding with NASTC
