Backcountry Magazine Articles 2025

I love shooting photos of trees while backcountry skiing. A particularly rad Red Fir on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe.

Print media is alive and well! We are so lucky, in the backcountry skiing and riding community, to still have Backcountry Magazine delivering us stoke from the front lines each season. Having contributed to the magazine in some capacity annually for well over a decade I remain grateful for any contribution I can make to this crucial, ongoing project of backcountry culture.

Article 1: Photo Annual. Follow the Old growth with photos by Ming Poon.

Article 2: The Outliers Issue. A piece focussed on the great work of Washoe youth educator Paula Smith with photos by Anthony Cupaiuolo

Bonus Piece: Ethos by Kevin Hjertaas. I didn’t know (I don’t think Kevin did either) that the piece was going to center on my family, but I sure love the vibe of the article and the photo:)
